The park, Monday evening

Artie was harrassing the ducks again.

There was no trace of exploded head of Gentleman on his striped uniform, though the enthusiasm in his shouts might indicate that he was quite glad to be able to speak again.

Then again, he's always enthusiastic, so maybe it doesn't.

Clark had taken Saigo out to the park for the evening, and was sitting on a bench a little ways off. Saigo meanwhile was glad he'd arrived when he had.

//You there! Bouncy Glasses Human! What do you think you're doing?!//

Artie had many skills. Apparently, speaking duck wasn't one of them.

He continued to bound about, arms windmilling, shouting at the ducks.

//No, seriously,// Saigo quacked in confusion. //What are you doing? Are you damaged like the Human with the Blue Box?//

he attempted to inerpose himself between Artie and the other ducks.

Artie looked down at Saigo. "Aha! Another one! You thought you could sneak up on me, eh?"

//Yes. By landing right in front of you. I am quite sneaky that way. Is this some kind of epidemic? Should I be looking for my own human to start acting erratically?//

"Oh, you think so, foul feathery fiend? Step back or I will or I shall be forced to hang you from a rope and drop you at inoportune moments! You bet your life!"

//I do not know what offense I have given you striped one, but I warn you, cease your offensive or I shall be forced to defend my people!//

"Bwuha!" Artie posed and dove for Saigo, much in the same manner that he once attacked a malicious bowling ball.

//So be it!// Saigo exclaimed, dodging Artie's dive and snatching at his glasses.

Fortunately, Artie always wore one of those strap things that goes around the back of your head and holds your glasses on. He grabbed at Saigo.

Saigo tried to bite his hand.

"What's going on here?" Clark demanded, running up.

[superartie]

"Never fear, Citizen!" Artie seemed to not notice the bite. "The situation is under control!"

//An unprovoked attack!// Saigo quacked. //I tried to warn him off but he persisted!//

"What situation? That Duck happens to be a friend of mine."

Artie blinked and sat up. "A friend you say?"

"Yes he injured himself a few months ago and I helped him recover. Has he bothered you?"

//I was defending my family!//

"Oh, not at all! We were merely playing!"

//Ha! Playing? Is that what...wait, were you just playing?// Humans were so hard to read. he settled down and looked at Artie in confusion.

Clark meanwhile smiled. "Oh good. I know the ducks here can be rambunctious. I was just concerned. My name's clark by the way."

"A pleasure! I am Artie! The Strongest Man . . . in the World!"

Clark smiled. Time was he could have made that claim. "That sounds a bit like a superhero name." he said.

"You are a clever one!"

"I try." Clark said. "Now that I think of it, wreen't you one of the people who volunteered to deal with the Gentlmen?"

"I was!"

"As was I. I haven't heard any details about what happened, but obviously your group was succesfull."

"We were . . ." Artie posed dramatically. "Triumphant!"

Clark managed not to laugh. This man seemed almost a parody of himself. "Were you a little disapointed in the lack of coverage the incident got on the radio? A lot of people put themselves in harms way, and I thought they should get their due. You, Jay and Silent Bob, Alfred, it just seemed like they glossed over it."

Was Clark also thinking of himself? yes. He was afterall, used to being front page news. But he was also modest and felt that those without any superpowers needed the recognition they deserved.

"Not at all! It is important only that we were successful."

Seemed to Clark he used to know that. Maybe this was part of why his powers had been removed.

"You're right." he said. "Anyway, it was nice to meet you Artie. Ready to go Saigo?" he asked the duck.

"A pleasure to meet you both!" called Artie, who was in no way planning the destruction of Saigo, no, not at all. . . .

Saigo gave Artie a suspicious look, but flapped over to land on Clark's shoulder.

//Likewise.// he quacked, in no way planning to keep close tabs on this dangerous psychotic. no, not at all...
